This plant is native to Africa and southern Europe and has been naturalized in many parts of the world. This plant has small glistening bladder cells on the leaves resembling small crystals, giving it the name crystallinum. Will spread to create a low growing mat. When grown in full sun the leaves will show lovely pink and red tones. The flowers are white.
NOTE: This is an annual plant. It is self-fertile and after it flowers and sets seed, the plant dies back and disperses its seed. The following year, the seeds germinate and new plants grow. As long as the plant is kept alive to flower and set seed, this cycle will continue yearly.
