This plant is native to Northern Chile. It grows best in full sun. Water this Copiapoa during the spring/summer and keep the plant dry during the winter. Acclimate the plant to maximum sun to produce/maintain the waxy epidermis, but try to protect it against extreme heat. This plant usually grows solitary for many years, but will offset with age. This is a slow growing Copiapoa. The flower is a yellow bloom.
This species is highly variable as a juvenile, becomes a little more uniform as it matures.
