This plant is endemic to the Atacama Desert in Chile, Taltal Chile, Antofagasta, Perales mountains and Quebrada San Ramon . This plant has a nice light olive green stem color covered in a white powdery/waxy coating with golden yellow spines. Slow to offset, yet faster to do so than other species. This is a southern form that tends to grow more columnar and seems to offset moreso than the species. The plant grows best in sun to part shade. Water in the summer but let it dry out during the winter. The flower is a yellow color.
