This plant is native to the winter rainfall area on the West Coast of the Richtersveld, Northern cape, South Africa (Grootmis and Lekkersing - Namaqualand), and north into Namibia. This is a winter growing plant and goes dormant during the summer. This is a dwarf species that offsets to form a tight low cluster of stacking leaf columns. The plant does best in partial shade. Water sparingly and grow this plant in a well draining soil to avoid rot.
