This plant is native to Sonora and Chihuahua, Mexico. This is a small dwarf species with stems to about 4 - 6” tall and 1.5 - 2” in diameter. Freely offsets from the base to form clusters with short cylindrical stems with white radial spines and dark red central spines. It grows best in full sun. Give the plant moderate water during the growing period and little to none while it is dormant. The flower color is pink.
