This plant is native to east of Huasco, Atacama, Chile. This variety has stout needle-like spines, fewer radial spines and fewer ribs than variety crispa. Spines have a nice 2-tone color of brown and tan. Keep this plant in partial shade. It is rot prone, so water sparingly and give the plant good drainage. The flower is a peach/cream/pink with darker mid-stripes.
