Mexican Fire Barrel
This plant is from north central Mexico in the states of Durango, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas. Dark green body color with bright red spines. Spines are yellow/white as a juvenile. This is an offsetting barrel cactus that in time will form a large cluster. This plant grows best in full sun to partial shade. Water the plant in the summer and give little to none during the winter when it is dormant. The flower color is red to orange.
