This plants habitat is the northern Pacific, USA in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and north into British Columbia, Canada. This is a natural hybrid between Opuntia fragilis and Opuntia polyacantha. This is a very variable hybrid as both parents are native to the same areas and hybridize differently in different areas. This particular clone has pads that are more elongated and less spiny than other clones, but certainly full of glochids. This plant grows best in full sun. This plant needs water when growing and very little to none during the dormant time. Our plants have yet to flower, but flowers range from pink to yellow. This plant is a low grower that creeps along the surface and spreads out to form large mats.
