This plant is native to Eastern Africa in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania. This plant forms a lovely caudex that is great for show. The caudex can grow to 4-5 feet in diameter!! Its caudex grows completely above ground or just the bottom portion below and is said to be the largest caudex forming plant on earth. Keep in full sun to partial shade to keep the plant compact. The flowers are very small and a yellow/green color. This plant can be bisexual, which is quite rare, but it can happen. Male and female flowers can form on the same plant. Although usually unisexual (dioecious), meaning plants will be either male or female.
